Where Is My Money?

In psy-ops, we called it dis-information, and brain washing, commonly referred to as... Being this sight is rated "G" by RSAC that will be left unsaid. Basically what it comes down to, is the person, or organization starts a disinformation program to create a "reasonable doubt" in the minds of their victims. This same information is then distributed freely and posted where ever possible.

There are several elements that are necessary for a disinformation campaign to be successful and they are as follows:

1) Money. Money is being paid to those that are campaigning against the person/organizations political issue.

2) Unfair. To leave the impressions that the person/organization is being treated unfairly regardless of how illegal, or unethical their agenda.

3) Creditability. Create a entity that would give the propaganda some visible, but not necessarily tangible creditability. This is usually done by sighting a "firm" name, and involving a "silent" contributor to give the propaganda the "essence of creditability". Also known as "the big lie".

4) Questionability. To raise question as to the creditability of the opposing contributors.

5) Objective. A "politically correct", "religious agenda" and/or memorandum is often chosen to divert the attention of the listener/reader away from their personal objective (in this case, it is a "save the trees" agenda) usually and most often using exaggerated numbers etc.. to make their motives seem pure and unselfish while creating a sense of urgency.

Hitler once stated, "never tell a little lie, you will always be caught. Tell a big lie, and the people will believe it every time." It has also been stated by another, that "if a lie is repeated often enough, it will be taken as fact."

Being the following article was first introduced to me via Fraud-Discus, when Cyberpromo was still claiming that SPAMming was a freedom of speech, (which has never been backed up in court, however, the court rulings have always ruled against it) it seems to have found a new life with the DEAA Protect Your Internet Freedom! 02/05/98 23:01:28 Local time, 02/06/98 04:01:28 GMT [date and time provided should there be changes regarding the webpage contents].

Being no one has ever been able to identify the "Research" company, or the "fortune 500" company, as well as this notorious "spammer" that has turned "anti-spammer" along with additional idiosyncracy for over a year now, I believe it is safe to say, what we have here is "The Big Lie".

Watch the numbers that are used such as "666" which is also know among Christians as "the mark of the beast" in which to create a question regarding a satanic takeover, and demonic conspiracy. Careful reading an analyzing the following you will note each element I have outlined as the "notice" is geared to tickle the senses of the reader. Afterwards, we shall discuss just what it is they are trying to hide along with the proof, not just propaganda.

My name is Duane Patterson and I am owner of Patterson Research & Recovery. About two years ago our firm was hired by a fortune 500 company who wanted to use the bulk email process to sell major software on the Internet. They had planned for many man hours just the right campaign. Suddenly there was all this stir going on about anti spam and they wanted to know what started it so they found us on line and hired us to investigate. Almost two years later the investigation still goes on a the results so far will surprise you. You may be one who we have investigated but this email address is unknown to us at this time as being in the investigation. I am not at liberty to reveal names or sources or our client but the result of our findings are going public very soon. We thought you should have the ball first.
The original anti-spammer was in truth a major spammer just one day before two major lumber companies deposited a total of $275,000 into his account. He instantly stopped spamming and began what is now the biggest anti-spam ring on the Internet. We now know there are over 600 anti-spammers who are on the payroll of these two large lumber companies, and the exact number we have found to date scares the hell out of me. However, when we investigated the lumber companies we found that 17.5% of all trees that are used for something and not just cut to clear ground, in the world are used for paper products. Twenty percent of our nations trees are cut to make paper and half of that is used for junk snail mail and most are used in the snail mail process at one time or another. The Lumber companies at that time were showing a 6% over all profit lose they claimed was due to the Internet email. Bulk Email was now cutting into junk snail mail profits by 11%. They believed that if left unchecked the bulk email and email (which are in their plans to go after next) will cause them to loose enough that it will no longer be profitable to cut for paper. They are also facing new steel frame homes which may wipe them out.

Ten thousand acres are cut each hour. Can we grow it back at that rate? Not hardly.
I short, we have all been taken by these lumber companies who do not care if they destroy our world as long as they make a profit . There are 666 paid anti-spammers on their payroll. Every time they cut and clear rain forest they decrease the amount of rain which falls in the forest and the rivers are all getting smaller. The ground is turned over as they clear the rain forest and (the state of Washington is rain forest) and new viruses are discovered all the time. Some of these viruses are not curable at this time and may never be. Mother nature has a way of killing off something that does not help her and we pretty well fit that category don’t we. I don’t know about you but I am on her side. I say let’s move as much mail on to the net as we can and help our planet. New technology has given us phone line compression which will let 10,000 to 4 times what we now can get on our phone lines and after all, how hard is it to delete something in your email box? I get over 300 hundred unsolicited email a day but I would rather have it under hand then have to go out to the mail box and sort and then take the paper to the recycle bin. How hard is it to replace our trees. I say if we are going to go after spammers then let us go after the porno spammers and get rid of them. Then target the individual who tries to sell the obvious scams. Let’s try to stop breaking the Federal, law by hacking into someone’s personal equipment and destroying it. Teach responsible bulk emailing. I have found that most bulk emailers do not want to send out to the people who do not want it, it does no good and makes them no profit. I have found that those who don’t care like CyberPromo, CTE and just a few others, also send out porno. So lets organize against the crooks and teach the others how to do bulk right. It can be done right you know and there are nearly 17 million on the net who like bulk email. I am one because I am an investigator and we need to know the new technology and the new programs and new software and we learn this first hand from bulk email.
Lets not forget that AOL hits you with an advertisement as soon as you sign on. They know how powerful bulk email is. Let’s use bulk email to teach people the truth and not the half truths I see on some web pages on anti-spam. The truth is much more powerful than lies or half truths.

Rocketship.com is an online e-mail service, SPAMmer often use these as throw-away accounts. If one was so bold as to give their own name, as the proprietor, and the company name, why the throwaway account?

Personal note:

I would like to ask, each an eveyone that reads this to ask yourself just one question. Has the amount of junk mail via the USPS, or any other land based mail service dropped by one iota? History shows us that advertising mediums are long lived, and hard to die. Take newspaper advertising for instance (which still uses paper), it is very much alive and well in spite of all the SPAMming.

Online advertising is not the issue here, as there is not one single ISP that I know of who's TOS, or AUP forbids bulk email that is Op-In (that is the end user subscribes to the list, noted in listserv's). The ISP's do charge extra for bulk emailing in this category due to the added burden upon their mail machines, and the additional bandwidth necessary. The issue is, SPAMmer want to flood your email box with their junk mail without your consent, or approval, and avoid paying for the added burden on the mail machines and bandwidth used, and gaining complete control over the email system and machines they do not own. Plain and simple.

SPAMmers continue to tell us that we do not want government control, (to which I agree if all possible), however, what they are not telling you is that it is they who wants control. By telling us we should except Op-out (after they SPAM you, you would then have to email back to be "removed" from their email list) they control you and your email. After you have been removed from their list, (if they actually do, history tells us this is not always the case) your email address is then sold, (therefore in all reality not removed) to another, and the cycle begins all over again. Control remains the factor.

Simply put:

Op-in the receiver has control over who uses their email. (Just as the TOS, and AUP of most ISP's currently provide)

Op-Out the receiver is at the total mercy of the SPAMmer. The SPAMmers therefore have control.

If you want proof, get a load of "Donna Troy Enterprizes, E-Mail Filtering" [As Last Modified: 06/24/97 11:32:24 Local time, Last Modified: 06/24/97 16:32:24 GMT, should there be changes made to the page, miss spelling of "Enterprises" as quoted from webpage] Now the SPAMmer want you to pay them to remove your email address from their SPAM list. A bit of caution, TURN OFF your browsers "cookie" capabilities before accessing these URL's . I can't say they are being used to collect email address for sale, but the page does ask for numerous cookies, a method know of by SPAMmers to collect email addresses.

If you should not choose to venture to this web site, it reads as follows in regards to having your email address added to their remove list, and I quote:

Questions & Answers
Cost to Bulk E-Mailers: FREE (This is what makes it work!) Cost To You: $19.95 (One Time Fee) Capacity: We are currently able to filter up to 20,000 lists per month, and will expand as necessary. Why do "I" have to pay? The cost of offering this service is astronomical, and we must meet these expenses. If we charged the Bulk Mailer's, they wouldn't use our service. Does it REALLY work? YES! Some of our customers have reported an over 90% reduction in the Junk E-Mail they receive!

Because of this connection it brings questions about this "list washing" service provided by "Donna Troy Enterprizes, E-Mail Filtering" and the DEAA where The_Shadow is hailed as a hero.

Thank you for your kind words, and your invitation. I will visit as soon as I can find the time.

In the meantime rest assured that I will be fighting the net-terrorists, and I will not rest until the net is freed from them once and for all.

I don't happen to send UCE, but as a business person, I definitely beleive in our right to send it, and I also beleive that no-one has the right to dictate to others what they can or can not do. Their right to choose, must not impose on the rights of others to make their own choices.

You might be pleased to know that one of the things we are working on implementing internet wide is ISP inserted legitimate E-Mail addresses.

While I don't expect this to have a major impact on the UCE senders, it should have a MAJOR impact on reducing the abuse done by the anti-spammers. It should make them easily identifiable for everyone once and for all, so they can be tracked down and stomped on like the parasites they are.

Have a good one!
The Shadow

In The_Shadows email , he/she stated, " According to the spammers message boards, and the software packages, they use Troy's or Coville's primarily. Both of which are paid services"

NOTE: I have not yet been able to identify this "Coville" , but the only other you pay to be removed list washing service is located at: http://www.NoThankYou.com/ . If there is anyone that has any information as to who this Coville's is, please let me know.

Copied From: NoThankYou.com User Registration ( "Coville" ?) Last Modified: 09/21/97 14:24:37 Local time, Last Modified: 09/21/97 19:24:37 GMT.

PERSONAL: The name says it all. This plan is available for personal use only (one physical human being). We've allowed for 5 e-mail addresses, which should be more than enough for the average person. There is a small one-time registration fee.

ORGANIZATIONS: This plan is for everyone and everything that is not personal. Price varies depending on the number of addresses. See the price sheet.

Copied From: http://www.NoThankYou.com/prices.htm Last Modified: 09/21/97 14:24:39 Local time, Last Modified: 09/21/97 19:24:39 GMT.

USERS

Personal users may register up to five of their own e-mail addresses for a one-time registration fee of $5.

Organizations have a stepped pricing plan: $5 each for the first 50, $4 each for the next 50, $3 each for the next 400, and $2 each for the balance. E-mail addresses may be submitted and changed over time. Organizations must renew bi-annually. These prices are not valid for entire networks like AOL, Compuserve, Prodigy, AT&T, Netcom, etc... They only apply to individual commercial, non-profit, educational, or governmental organizations.

MARKETERS

Marketers pay a setup/data handling fee of $30 per run, and then a stepped cumulative processing fee based on volume as follows:

  • $0.70 per 1000, first 100,000
  • $0.60 per 1000, 100,000 to 1,000,000
  • $0.50 per 1000, 1,000,000+

Marketers are credited one complimentary personal user registration per 5,000 addresses processed.

Additional data conversion, special handling, or express mail fees will be quoted on a job-by-job basis.

I have also encountered another so called remove list that does not so much "charge" for their removal service, but the request a donation of $3.00. The irony of the whole thing never really took me until I began to do some research on the same to find that the "owners" of this "removal" service was also directly involved in SPAMming , they are selling software SPAMEX - THE SPAM KILLING SOFTWARE produced by "The King of Spam", Cyberpromo. This I would like to address here for your inspection.

Kill The Spam at your front door with SPAMEX for only $19.95
That is 25% off the manufacturers suggested retail price for the best spam filtering software on the planet !

When we followed the link provided regarding "GET ON THE GOLDEN LIST NOW" (they seen to have two list) we found the following.

Remove-List.com has the following structure: http://www.remove-list.com/golden.html

Thank you for choosing the Golden Option, we appreciate your commitment to reducing the number of Unsolicited Bulk Email that we all receive.

To be placed on this list which is actively & aggressively promoted to all Bulk Emailers and Bulk Email Software Manufacturers, a small donation to assist in the maintaining of this is required.

In exchange for your donation of as little as three dollars ( the least amount that can be charged on a credit card ) you will receive the benefits mentioned above that are unique to this list as well as a 15% Discount on SpamEx Software and of course the piece of mind, knowing that you made your contribution towards eliminating unwanted commercial email from your mailbox

Could it be that "list washing" is more lucrative than SPAMming, or is this just out right extortion? I hate to say it, but it really looks to me as if the DEAA and "Donna Troy Enterprizes, E-Mail Filtering" and Coville's ("Both of which are paid services, but seem to rank highly among both the spammers, and those who wish not to receive spam" according to The_Shodow) is involved in a matter of extortion. In simple terms they are saying is, You pay us, or we will SPAM you.
